Carlisle First Church of God
The Carlisle First Church of God is a non-Pentecostal evangelical church. We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible authority. It is the Word of God. This is our only rule of faith and practice.
Our church dates back to 1894 when an organizational meeting was held in Sipe's Hall on South Hanover Street, Carlisle. At that meeting thirty-six people formed a covenant that established the First Church of God in Carlisle. That same year the new congregation purchased a church on West Louther Street. We worshiped in that location until 1974 when the congregation moved to our present location.
College Student Care Packages
It's that time of year, with Spring Break under their belts, our college students are in the final stretch of the spring semester. It is an intense time meeting deadlines for projects, cramming for finals, and for several, preparing for graduation. As we did last year, care-packages will be prepared to send out to over 25 students who are a part of our congregation. We are accepting individual serving size packages of cookies, crackers, snacks. A receptacle is available in the Narthex. (If items are homemade, you may bring to the church on Sunday, April 13th, as we will be assembling the boxes on Monday, April 14th. If you would prefer to make a monetary donation to help defray the cost of postage you may place your contribution in an envelope marked (COLLEGE STUDENT CARE PACKAGES) and place in the offering plate. Checks should be made payable to Carlisle 1st Church of God. You may see Karen Sheriff, Tammie Gitt or Kathy Lemmons for additional information. Thank you in advance for your participation in this ministry.
In preparation for the arrival of the Poes to Carlisle First Church of God some updates to the parsonage were suggested. In an upcoming meeting the congregation will be asked to vote on these updates. A list of the proposed updates can be viewed by clicking the link Here
